The notification indicates that the patient is at risk of, or has already developed signs of organ failure. As a clinician, it is your responsibility to assess whether the algorithm is correct or mistaken. Consider it as a prompt to examine the patient more closely. Remember that as a clinician, you still retain the ultimate responsibility for treatment decisions.

The primary source is the electronic patient record system (EPJ). The values included in the algorithm's calculations are solely vital signs and laboratory results. Although the data is sent to a private company, it remains protected under data protection laws and cannot be sold onward.
